What chud. gets wrong.

A running list of the things we know are broken, weak, or unfinished. We publish it because a study tool that only tells you what it is good at is not a study tool you should trust with a quiz tomorrow.

When the primary model is unavailable, chud. answers from a backup and labels the reply “answered via backup”.

We saw this on every answer during a session on 26 Aug 2026. The answers were still usable. The label is deliberate — we would rather show the downgrade than hide it.

Study mode is offline while it is rebuilt.

The app says so directly and points students to Chat, which does the same work. We took it down rather than ship a half-working version.

A student who pushes hard enough can still get an answer instead of a method.

The teaching behaviour is a strong default, not a hard gate. We are not going to claim we have solved this, because we have not.

What we have not tested. We have not run chud. against a standardised exam, measured it across subjects, or had it independently evaluated. We have not completed a SOC 2 audit and we are not FERPA-certified. When any of that changes, it will appear on this page with a date — and until it does, please treat chud. as what it is: a study companion built by students, not a credentialed product.
